Happy Friday, friends! Instead of addressing the fact that I’ve taken quite a long break from blogging, I’m BACK! With moving and a promotion, I’ve needed more time than anticipated to get into my new groove.
Jumping right into things, I wanted to share with you my health goals for the summer. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been looking into more of a functional medicine approach. The past few times I’ve gone to my primary care physician, I just end up leaving upset because the only treatment options seem to be meds. My questions never seem to be answered and I never feel enough time or thought is put into answering them.
Here are some of my goals for the summer to get feeling even better:
Drink warm lemon water right when I wake up.
Find the right daily probiotic.
In addition to the 1-2 kombuchas I drink a week, I do want to see what the effects of taking a probiotic have on my gut. I haven’t had any excruciating stomachaches after eating in a while, so I want to keep that up.
Add in long morning walks to the workout routine.
With Winston being a French Bulldog, he is super sensitive to heat and can overheat super easily. While long walks definitely benefit me mentally and physically, I want him to still get enough exercise too.
Be more consistent with my skincare routine.
I’ve ditched almost all of my drugstore-type face washes and deodorants because of extreme itchiness and acne I was dealing with. I’ve been strictly using Primally Pure and Franklin & Whitman for 1-2 months after hearing such great things (and all of the discount codes floating around IG didn’t hurt either). You guys – their products are AMAZING and don’t see myself switching to another brand anytime soon. These are the products I’ve been loving:
Primally Pure Sensitive Deodorant (in scents lavender and lemongrass)
Franklin & Whitman Walnut Hill Face Serum
Franklin & Whitman Filter Square Face Scrub
Primally Pure Everything Spray (I use post-workout to get off sweat, toning)
Primally Pure Cleansing Oil (I use as a makeup remover/face wash)
Franklin & Whitman Body Serum (this stuff is dreamy post-shower)
Franklin & Whitman Body Scrub (love the East Passyunk scent)
Cut back on the caffeine.
It’s no secret that caffeine isn’t great in large doses. When I make coffee at home, I don’t just drink a cup – I’ll drink the whole french press. Over the past couple of months, I’ve cut back on coffee and switched over to tea. Caffeine can increase the pain of cramps and cysts, which is something I’ve been struggling with more lately. I also get more water in with tea so win-win!
Keep taking beef liver capsules and a B12 supplement.
According to blood work done a couple months ago, my b12 levels are extremely low – which explains a lotttttt. I’ve been taking Vital Proteins beef liver capsules and a b12 supplement on occasion and my levels have increased slightly. I’ve been looking into a liquid form of the b12 supplement because I nearly choke on the pill every time I take it.
I’ve also been researching a lot more of the “trendy” health products lately – adaptogens, collagen, ACV, bone broth, etc. I used to be anti-health trends, but I am becoming more and more open to things as I find my meetings with my primary care to be more frustrating.
Your turn-
What are some of your health goals?
Have you found a “trendy” health product to work for you?
What is one thing you do to improve your overall well-being?

June 23, 2017 at 4:58 PMI love this post! Thanks for sharing your goals and those products. I’m also working on switching all of my products to more natural options and definitely in the market for some new things. I’m ready to refresh my own summer health goals and just completely reset after my move next week. I also love the idea of seasonal goals.
