Week in Review

Monday, we meet again.  *insert eye roll emoji*

I came down with some sort of awful bug last night; the kind where you feel like yacking and you are shivering yet you are hot.  Yeah, so it’s safe to say that I am staying home from work today.  This also happened Friday night, hence the lack of the usual Friday Favs post the next morning.  This is also the reason why Week in Review is coming at you super late.  Anyways, life must go on.  Let’s hope whatever this thing is goes away soon!

Week-In-Review-Button-Final

-As usual, I worked a 40+ hour week 

-Only taught 2 classes!  The break due to my wrist has been much needed for both my body and mind

–This unit in micro has had us watching a lot of videos, which I would definitely prefer over reading out of our micro book.  We had to watch this TED Talk on how the microbes in our body affect our overall health, disposition to diseases, and even our mood.  I’d definitely check it out if you are interested in health, microbiology, or just curious.  If you are interested, here’s the link.

-I got my cast off!  I can finally write legibly.

-I got to see a friend that I had not seen in years.  It was so great to catch up with my friend, Sabe, who was in town for the Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day bar crawl, and she had extended her trip a couple days. We met at Heist to soak up the beautiful weather that Charlotte has been having lately, and, naturally, we decided to get food:

If you are ever at Heist, you should always get their food.

-I had my first micro lab since Spring Break is over, and the lab wasn’t prepared for that day so we got to leave early.  My dream came true.

-Made my NCAA March Madness bracket with high hopes of having a pretty solid one.  Until Michigan State blew it…

-Got a haircut and my eyebrows done to kick off the weekend:

Holy crap, I need some sun.

-Took an OTF and MADabolic this weekend.  It felt so good to sweat without the cast on!  Both classes ended up being super leg-heavy, so it was nice to workout and not worry about my wrist all that much.

-Sunflour iced coffee with soy milk and an extra shot.  Because, weekend.

-Sold clothes at Plato’s Closet.  I made $37 bucks on workout clothes!

-A trip to Aldi and Costco were in order.

-A Sunday brunch with friends were in order, too

  2. I didn’t make a bracket but my boyfriend is running 2 different pools and is super into it! I love when Plato’s Closet buys clothes from me.. even though I never get as much as I’m hoping for haha. Just gotta have low expectations with them!

    • Yes! I have come to learn, too, that low expectations are necessary when selling to Plato’s Closet. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I got!

  3. 37 bucks? Nicely done!! I really should haul out my closet to see if I can make some change too..
    Congrats on getting the cast off!! Must feel soooo nice. Almost as nice as what that dog seems to be experiencing… 🙂

    • Thanks!! I was pleasantly surprised by the $37 because they still gave me some of my stuff back, and I didn’t feel like I brought that much! Haha yes, Winston definitely has the face of enjoyment in that photo. He cracks me up!

  4. Ahhh I adore Winston. He’s so damn cute and personable. I also adore brunching and mimosas so I appreciate living vicariously through you right now.

    That’s great about getting your cast off, yet really appreciating the break (no pun intended) it gave you both physically and mentally. We all need to rest and recover some times. Speaking of which, I hope you feel better soon.

    • Thank you! Thankfully whatever that was has passed. Winston definitely likes making appearances on the blog. I swear, he knows when I am taking a picture of him. He’s such a little weirdo!

  5. I went to UVA, and after losing to MSU the last few years in the bracket, I’m not sad that they are out ;D OMG that pizza looks amazing, and YAY for getting your cast off! That is always such a weird feeling. Like, omg I have movement here! I used to take things to Plato’s pretty often, and then, right before we left Cville, I was going to take a ton of things…. and they weren’t open. Annnnnd they weren’t receiving. Annnddd etc etc. So I gave up and just donated. Same story, different city last summer. Now, if only someone would do it for me!

    • I am definitely pulling for UVA or UNC…living in NC now I feel like I have to! But I also have a cousin and some friends that went to UVA so I’ll be rooting for them for support. 🙂

  7. Sorry about your sickness–that sounds miserable! There’s something going around my grad program, as well.
    Sorry, also, about Michigan State. I did not make a bracket, but if I had, I’d pick Kansas. My alma mater.
    TED talks are fascinating–agreed!

    • I had Kansas going pretty far in my bracket! I don’t really follow, but judging from their record, they seem really good 🙂

  9. Winston is so cute!! Love his teeth 😉 Congrats on getting your cast off. YAY!! I’ve never had a cast on before, but they look really annoying.
