Gooooooood evening.
This weekend was a rather eventful one – starting Friday off on a somewhat turbulent foot. I had work early, so after 2:30 I had the evening to myself. Winston had been fine all day (aka sleeping in the crate) and happily went on his afternoon walk and stayed at home as I ran a few short errands in the afternoon. I came home between a few errands, but when I ran out to grab dinner and quickly run to Target, my roommate called me and said Winston would not put any weight down on his back leg. Naturally, I rushed home to see what was wrong, since he had been calm all day. His pads on his back right foot seemed raw, but it seemed odd that the rawness would cause him to not put any weight on his whole leg. I stayed in Friday night and gave him some extra love.
Saturday morning, I woke up early for the 730 MADabolic class. When I came home, Winston was still only walking on 3 legs, barely putting any weight on his back leg. This confirmed that it was more serious than just a paw issue, so I took him to the vet.
Long story short, nothing was confirmed but he is being treated for knee pain and swelling. Bulldogs don’t have the most stable knee joints, and so the vet was thinking that if it’s not a tear, it could be sore from his knee cap popping back into place. If it doesn’t get better, we have to go back for some x-rays.
I had plans to leave early to go visit my friends, Katie and Jason, in Raleigh but the trip to the vet pushed my departure back a little bit. I ended up leaving Winston with my roommate (thanks Katy!) and got to Raleigh around 3:30.
It was so nice to catch up with the both of them, since I hadn’t seen them since their wedding in May! Katie and I stopped by House of Hops to enjoy a beer and pick up a 6-pack for an oyster roast we were going to that night.
We brought her 2 dogs, but after a spilled beer and the place filling up, we decided to grab our 6-pack and head back to her place. After that, we headed to the oyster roast then went to dinner at Oak & Dagger. The burger was UN.REAL and I cannot recommend it enough.
We went out to a couple bars, including Raleigh Beer Garden. It’s definitely the biggest beer venue I’ve ever been to. They have over 300 beers on tap!
After a late night and an early rise, Katie and I grabbed coffee and a quick breakfast at Panera. Luckily Raleigh is a short drive so I am hoping to see her more often!
I got back to Charlotte around 2pm and headed straight to Trader Joe’s to pick up salad ingredients for Friendsgiving. The rest of the afternoon before Friendsgiving consisted of a nap. I can’t hang anymore!
We had Friendsgiving at my friend, Melissa’s, house. This is her first Thanksgiving in her house, so she went all out with the table setting. How cute is her dining room?!
It was potluck style and I contributed the fall festive kale salad with cinnamon vinaigrette and pecan parmesan from the Oh She Glows cookbook. It’s my go-t0 salad for dinner parties and other gatherings.
We had chicken, brussel sprouts, cauliflower mac & cheese, and stuffing. Dinner ended with pumpkin pie (duh) and Arctic Zero snickerdoodle dandy ice cream.
Although the craziness with Winston and being out of town Saturday, it was great to spend time with friends, new and old.
