Good morning and happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a great start to to the week. Mine was less than stellar, considering I felt a migraine coming along yesterday morning so I left work to sleep it off. Low and behold, I ended up sleeping 4 hours, woke up to eat lunch, and then went back to sleep for another 4 hours. I guess my body was trying to tell me something!
This weekend was a busy one, so I’ll start with Friday’s events.
Friday
After working an early shift at work, I got home around 3 and met up with my coworker at a new local ice cream shop, Golden Cow Creamery.
This new creamery has gotten a lot of buzz since opening a month or so ago, so it’s been on my list to try this summer. I got the cinnamon oatmeal cookie dough and the berry crisp flavors and they were amazing.
My coworker lives a couple blocks away from Golden Cow, so she met me there with her cute dog, Kodee. Right behind Golden Cow is a small, shaded dog park so we ate our ice cream over there while Kodee explored.
That night, I cooked dinner with my friend Melissa at her place while our dogs ran around. It was such a nice night, so it was great to catch up while drinking wine on her back patio.
I haven’t had internet in about a week, so I spent the rest of the night finishing up “It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover. It was an easy read yet emotional love story, which I ended up finishing in about 3 days.
Saturday
On Saturday morning, Melissa and I got Rico’s for breakfast at 7th Street Public Market in Uptown. She told me the night before that she had never had their acai bowls, so we instantly agreed to go get it for breakfast.
I got the Rainbow Bowl, which has acai puree, granola, bananas, strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, raspberries, and kiwi. I also added a drizzle of nutella, because…why not?
After breakfast, we headed to Sugar Creek Brewery for the Shop Pink Social Pop-Up Shop. They had all local vendors including women-owned fitness studios, local clothing stores, and other Charlotte start-ups.
I ended up getting these earrings in turquoise, this shirt (for game day!), this shirt, and this hat. I was loving all of the Charlotte gear!
After the Pink Social pop-up shop, Melissa and I got lunch at Kid Cashew, which was absolutely delicious.
Next on the agenda was a trip to Handpicked, which is a cute boutique jewelry store in the heart of Dilworth.
They were having a sale on all bracelets, but unfortunately, they barely had any. It was weird. BUT, I did see these shoes and now I’ve been thinking about them nonstop.
Our last stop was South Park mall to check out Athleta. It was their Friends and Family sale weekend, so I wanted to check out what they had in stock. I ended up using my instructor discount since it was more than the Friends and Family discount, and I left with high-waisted navy leggings and two tops.
After the mall, Melissa dropped my off since my cousin, Jack, and his friend were arriving shortly after. He stayed at my place because they were going to the Panthers game the next day. When he arrived, he said his friend had bailed and offered to take me to the game instead. I felt bad for him, but was so happy he asked me to go!
It was his birthday Saturday, so we went out for pizza then finished the night at Melissa’s to watch the Notre Dame/Michigan State game. Winston came with us, and he was beyond thrilled to hang out with the gang.
Sunday
Sunday morning started with a trip to Poppy’s for bagels. I then dropped Jack off at a tailgate to meet up with his other friends from his college. I headed back to shower/get ready and walk Winston before taking an Uber to the stadium.
I was (obviously) rooting for the Panthers and Jack is a big 49ers fan, so it was comical to be sitting with a rival!
After the game, we walked to South End to get out the post-game madness to hitch an Uber back to my place. Sadly, Jack had to go back to school after the game since he had a test Monday. It was so great to see him since the last time I saw him was Christmas!
Once Jack left, I got ready to go to my roommate’s birthday dinner at her cousin’s house. I have been to their house many times and I feel so grateful to be included in their family dinners.
Katy’s cousin just had their second baby, so my ovaries were happy to be holding such a cute, tiny nugget.
And there you have it! Another whirlwind weekend for the books.
Your turn!
-What did you do this weekend?
-Have you been to an NFL game?
-Do you ever shop local?
-What’s on your schedule for today?

September 20, 2016 at 1:11 PMI’ve read a few Colleen Hoover books and that one is on my to-read list! This sounds like such a fun weekend. So cool that you got to to go the Panthers game! I’ve never been to an NFL game but we’re Bears fans (shamefully…. haha) and I’d love to go to a game in Chicago sometime!
