Where has the time gone? How is my little piglet 3??
If you couldn’t tell by my blog, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and just by talking to me, I am obsessed with my dog, Winston. He came into my life somewhat out of the blue and taking the plunge by getting him was the best decision I ever made.
At first, I don’t think parents were too keen on me getting a dog. The responsibility, the expenses, the time commitment, the inability to just “drop whatever I am doing and go somewhere” or make spontaneous trips…but with him, I still feel like I can do the things I want to do and not feel tied down.
With a major responsibility like a dog, if you think it’s going to tie you down, it will. You have to plan and have a schedule and then it really all sorts itself out. But, my parents know how much of a dog person I am and they knew how happy having a dog would make me. They fell in love with Winston right off the bat. Winston also instantly fell in love with them (especially my dad..see below), which was adorable.
Winston has won over the hearts of most, and I am not just saying that because I own him. I’ve met 95% of the people in my building because of him. I’ve had people shout out of their moving cars while we are on a walk to tell me how great he is. It’s nice to know he’s brightened not just my day, but many others.
He’s been with me through the good times – new city, new apartment, new friends, and lots of other exciting changes. He’s also been with me through the not so great times – adjusting to adulthood, through break-ups, and other stressors. You really can’t understand and appreciate the companionship a dog brings to your life – and once you have it, “special” doesn’t even begin to describe it.
His personality is like no other and he never fails to crack me up. He’s mastered the dirty look and side eye and has random bursts of energy at 8:30pm on the dot where he sprints around like a lunatic. He knows my closest friends and family members’ names and freaks out when he hears one of their names. He loves to be in the bathroom watching me do my business and loves to watch me shower. He hates eating his food out of his bowl and demands it to be on the floor – until he’s starving enough where he gives up and just eats his food normally. He’s sassy and stubborn, yet sweet, and is the biggest weirdo I know.
Happy birthday, my little loaf! <3
