June Goals + Review of May Goals

June 2, 2015 by oatsandrows

One of the many purposes I created this little corner of the internet was to help keep myself accountable. Whether that’s in regards to eating well, keeping my own workouts consistent, or any other goal I wish to accomplish, O&R gives me more of a push to get it done.  I feel that if I post it to the internet, somebody is out there reading it (hopefully HA).  Granted, I am self-motivated to a certain extent, but this extra form of accountability is just another way to stack on track.

At the beginning of May, I set some goals that I wanted to complete, so today I am going to share how those went!

1) Highlight the best part of each day:  Completed!  Almost.

I did this almost everyday.  I did this the majority of May, and I felt better mentally because of it.  You just feel soooo much better when you dwell on the GOOD rather than the bad.

2) Actually finish a book:  Completed!

I had actually planned on reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, but with all of my travel this month, this book was just too large to carry around.  I picked Sharp Object by Gillian Flynn for this month, and flew through it.  Such a great thriller, even though it was highly disturbing.

3)  Sign Up for a Half Marathon:  Nope.

This was a no-go.  I spent a great deal of the beginning of May trying to plan a half marathon with friends, but we never settled on one.  We all live in different cites so it has been hard to plan for a half marathon where 2 or 3 of us would have to travel.  We also all want to do a girls weekend somewhere and we planned that, just not the half.  I thought another half marathon would be nice this year, but it really hasn’t been one of my main priorities.   I will be in a nursing class on the weekends from October through December, so I really need to do one in September if I want to.  AKA get training ASAP.  Welp, if I don’t do one, I won’t lose sleep over it.  We’ll see.  There’s always next year!

4)  Take more pictures:  Kinda?

I feel like I’ve stepped up my game a little bit with taking pictures of my food and I guess my day-to-day overall.  It is not anywhere where I want it to be; I still think this blog is lacking.  I just purchased a camera though off Amazon so that will for sure get my butt in gear!

5)  Post 1 workout or fitness-related post to O&R:  Nope.

Somehow this did not happen.  I know I posted some of the exercises from the classes I taught in my Weekly workouts post, but my main goal was to post a workout with pictures and modifications.  With this new camera coming in the mail (TODAY eeek!), it will be happening very soon!

6)  Become a Certified Health and Wellness Coach:  In progress!

This month, I completed the 18-week Wellcoaches training to become a Certified Health and Wellness Coach.  Woohoo!  But now that the class is over, it is time for all of the studying and work with practice clients to become certified.  I should have broken this goal down into something more specific, because it would have been impossible to get all the post-class work done to become certified.  More on this soon!
