TGIF! Last Friday Favorites of the year…can you believe it? Maybe you can, but I definitely cannot. So much has happened this year and it all flew by in the blink of an eye. 2017 was a ‘meh’ year for me but I’ll save all those juicy details for Tuesday’s post 😉
Have a safe and happy New Year!
Slow Mornings
I spent Christmas at home in Maryland and it was so nice to have some time off from work. At home, I am not on a schedule so I was able to leisurely wake up, hang around with family and the pups, and have coffee without having to chug it on my way to work or to teach.
Holiday Cocktails
My mom and I wanted to drink a festive cocktail at our Christmas Eve dinner, so we found this mule from Half Baked Harvest. I don’t drink vodka, so I subbed that out for tequila. I highly recommend this drink – the flavors of the grapefruit, peppermint extract, and ginger beer was delicious!
Visits with Joan
Joan is one of my dearest friends and I’ve known her since I was 16. It’s hard living away from her, so she is usually my first stop. My mom is great about visiting her and buying her some of the things she needs so I brought that over to her when I first got home. She’s obsessed with dates!
I’ve talked about Joan here on the blog here and there, but I don’t know if I’ve ever shared the story of how we met or elaborated on my family’s relationship with her. She’s AWESOME and I definitely plan on sharing that at some point this year.
Lunch at True Food Kitchen
I was able to meet up with two of my best friends, Katharine and Lis, while I was home and it was wonderful. I hadn’t seen Katharine this year (we have no idea how that happened) and I saw Lis when she visited me in Florida in July! This year was insanely busy for everyone, so we decided it was our goal to see each other more than just at holidays.
True Food hasn’t been in Bethesda that long, so I was so excited when Lis suggested it for lunch. I got the Teryaki quinoa bowl with shrimp and it was so tasty. Their skim latte was great too!
Puppies!!
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have been my stories on Christmas featuring this cutie. My little cousins got this puppy black Lab for Christmas, so obviously he was the star of the show. Winston did not get a chance to meet him, but I am sure Winston would have been equally obsessed with him as I was.
Your turn –
What is one thing you’ve been loving this week?
Any NYE plans? I’ll be posted up at home taking it easy #27goingon87
Favorite cocktail? I love margaritas and G&Ts!
