Thank the Lord for weekends. This week seemed to go by in a flash with my days filled with nonstop movement and somehow I blinked and it is Saturday. I am more than thrilled to have a quiet weekend to get things done and let my body somewhat rest.
Lately I have been thinking about my time here in Charlotte; what I have done, seen, tried, experienced. It has been about a year and a half since I left Maryland and moved back to the South but it honestly feels like a couple of months. Granted, I have had blast here in Charlotte so far, but I had this expectation in my head that I would have done more by now. Gone to more places. Tried more restaurants. Traveled locally more. I feel like when I think of things I want to do, I just tell myself “oh…let’s plan to do that soon” or find some other excuse. It is SO easy to let your day-to-day routine become all you do. For me, it’s exercise, work, errands with friends thrown in here and there when both of our schedules allow. I feel like I have just been coasting by lately, and I want to change that.

With my birthday coming up in the next few months, it truly shows how FAST time goes by, and it is not slowing down. As I get older, the years are going by faster. I know that everyone can agree or has been told this, but it is really true. And YES, I know that I am too young to be freaking out about my own birthday, but it’s happening and I am rolling with it. 🙂
I’ve decided for each month I am going to set some goals for myself…nothing crazy or super big, but just have a few things that I am going to challenging myself to help me feel like I am getting the most out of each day.
May 2015 Goals
1. Highlight the best part of each day: It is so easy to dwell on the negative, so I plan on writing down the part(s) of my day that make me happy. This will help me really focus on those improving my overall outlook each day.
2. Actually finish a book: Recently, I’ve started some books but just have put them back on the shelf. I am reading The Goldfinch now and I am going to force myself to finish it. Sorry, Netflix..I’ll see you again soon.
3. Sign up for a half marathon: Ever since I finished my first half in October, I’ve been wanting to do another one. I originally thought I wasn’t going to be able to do one this year because of my nursing class (ahhhh), but I am shooting to do one (or two…HA) before the fall.
4. TAKE MORE PICTURES: Holy crap, this post (and blog for that matter) is slacking. I just need to write a note on my hand as a reminder to take more pictures. I am the worst.
5. Post 1 workout or fitness-related post to O&R: One of the main things I wanted to do on this little space is post workouts and I have yet to do. I really am the worst.
6. Become a Certified Health and Wellness Coach: I am almost finished with my training through Wellcoaches to become a Certified Health and Wellness Coach…only 3 more classes left! More on that soon 🙂
