My First Year of Blogging: My Experience Told by Kristen Wiig

October 27, 2015 by oatsandrows

This month marks my first year of blogging!

While I am certainly nowhere near being a pro and there are so many things I still need to learn, I thought I’d share some of the ups and downs I’ve experienced with this little space of mine over the past year.  If you are a blogger, maybe you’ve experienced some of the same emotions when you started out.

Oh, and Kristen Wiig because.. #spiritanimal

Oats & Rows celebrates 1 year! Check out the experience told through Kristen Wiig GIFS #blogging #oatsandrowsblog

When you get a comment on your post, and it’s from an actual human:

Initially, there’s disbelief.

Then, freak out.

Writing the “About Me” page:

Soooo…what should I write?

Widgets:

WTF is a widget??

When you have a long day, yet you want to have a post up the next morning:

Blogging when sleepy is never a good idea.

When you see a typo in said sleepy post:

Grammar schmammar.

My face that time I tried to change my font and my whole website went blank:

So accurate.

Hiring a web designer instead:

Really though, best decision ever.

Figuring out the difference between menus, pages, and categories:

Look at me go!

When a reader begins to comment regularly:

THANK YOU.

Telling people what my blog is about:

Food…fitness..whatever comes to my brain. Boom.

Figuring out what plugins were:

Ohhhhhhhh.

Trying to remember what I ate in the past week because I forgot to take pictures:

Pretending I’ve got this whole blogging thing down:

Fake it ’til you make it, amiright?

Hitting publish and hope for the best:

Questions:  Do you have a blog?  How long have you been blogging for?  Have you experienced any of these ups/downs?   When reading blogs, what makes you keep reading?

Congrats! I can relate to ALL of those, and I’ve only been doing this for a month! You hit the nail on the head with this post. My favorite is getting comments from other bloggers. I smiled for an entire day after my first one 🙂

This is perfect. I am coming up on my first year as well and I feel like it has been nothing close to graceful! The struggle is real (and it’s ongoing), but it’s worth it 🙂 I’m glad I found this. Congrats on your first year!

Happy one year! I’m pretty pumped you used Kristen Wiig gifs throughout this post. She’s my girl! Especially when she was Gilly on SNL. Man, I miss that season.

Here’s to many more years of blogging, Sara!

Haha so true. I’ve been blogging for three years and I’ve learned so much. I remember the first week of my blog I wanted to tear my hair out trying to figure out how to set up the menu in wordpress, and trying to figure out what the heck was the difference between categories and pages, lol. I’ve crashed my site so many times from trying to edit the code. Congrats on your first year!
